Frequently Asked Questions

BVN

• What is BVN?
The BVN is a unique number that enables an individual to have just a single identity in the banking system, regardless of how many accounts he/she has.
To make this process easier, VAS2Nets has recently partnered with the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS) and Mobile Network Operators to launch a Bank Verification Number query service.
The BVN registration is a directive given in February 2014, by the Central Bank of Nigeria to all commercial banks in the country to register all their customers biometrically in furtherance of the “Know Your Customer” policy. It is aimed at protecting banking customers and further strengthening the Nigerian banking system.

• Tell me more about the BVN Query Service?
VAS2Nets Technologies LTD in a strategic partnership with the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System has now provided an easy means of accessing your BVN through your phone. The BVN initiative which was launched by the Central Bank of Nigeria in 2014 is aimed at protecting bank customers and strengthening the Nigerian banking system by enrolling each bank customer under a unique number that enables each one to have a single identity in the banking system.
Access to this service involves the dialing of the USSD code *565*0# on your mobile phone. With it, customers can access their BVN number through their mobile phones at any time, but it can only be accessed by bank customers who have registered for their BVN at a bank.

• What mobile networks does the service cover?
Currently the BVN Query service is available on Etisalat, Airtel, MTN and GLO Mobile Networks respectively.

• How much does it cost to query my BVN?
The service is billed at N10 per query.
